Frosty's Fat Bike Endurance Race

Cost: $100
Jan. 14, 2017, 8 a.m.

Pemier event of the Jasper Fat Bike Race and Summit powered by Frosty's Fat Bike Race Series will be the Endurance Cross Country Race. A and B level riders will test their skill and pedaling prowess as they tackle at scenic 50 kilometer course past the lakes and hills on Pyramid Bench. You may not win, but just finishing this course will be an achievement in determination and Fat Bike mastery. Come join us for the inaugural endurance XC in Jasper this January.
Other Frosty's Events include the Dual Slalom Downhill Race, Cross Country Race and Frosty's Fat Bike Summit.

Cold Fire Creek Dogsledding

Dog Sled in Jasper on Pyramid Lake! Saturday, January 14th we celebrate the start of Jasper In January. Cold Fire Creek Dogsledding will run tours from 11 AM - 3 PM on January 14, 21 & 28 and are first come first served. Parking is only available at Jasper Park Riding Stables. Shuttle will run from the Stables to Pyramid Lake and back and payment can only be made by cash. Cost is $40 per person with Children under 5 riding for FREE (must be accompanied by an adult). Rides are approx. 10 minutes.

Learn to Snowshoe

Snowshoeing around valley bottoms and shallow slopes of Jasper National Park.
Join a park interpreter for this "learn to hike". We will cover all the basics from what a snowshoe does, their cultural significance, how to walk with them, how to dress for winter weather, and how to look for terrain hazards. When you've learned all you can we'll put it to the test with a snowshoe race!
*Snowshoes will be provided.

The Jasper in January Brew Tour includes sampler, brewery tour with the Brewmaster, souvenir pint glass, Jasper Brewing Co. t-shirt, choice of burger or sandwich off the menu. 18+
Come visit Jasper's National Park Brewery. Six signature beers brewed on-site, we use only the best: premium hops and malts combined with our own cultured yeast strains. Our final ingredient is the pure, natural mountain water sourced from the great Canadian Rockies. Unlike most commercial breweries, we do nothing to our water but remove the chlorine added to it.

Learn to Winter Camp

Park interpreters will share their knowledge of winter camping in both the frontcountry and backcountry campgrounds in the park, as well winter camping safety, what gear to bring, how to layer properly, what food to bring, and various tools you may need along the way.
We will also be building a traditional winter Quinzhee shelter. If the thought of winter camping has left you freezing in the past, drop by and talk to us. Don't worry, we have tea and hot chocolate on hand to keep you warm.
So here's where the thirst for knowledge and learning comes into play. Parks Canada Interpreters will be at Marmot Meadows this winter offering fun interpretive programs for everyone to enjoy.

Pyramid Lake Sleigh Rides

Experience a 40 minute ride along the sunny shore of Pyramid Lake. Matched teams of horses, tuned bells, sleighs with comfortable seats and warm throw blankets make for a classic winter experience.
Sleigh rides to Pyramid Island depart every hour on the hour from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm from the dock. Book in advance at 780-883-0900.
*Children under 5 are free.

Apres Ski - Marmot Basin

Relax with friends in Marmot Basin's Caribou Lounge. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Marmot's Caribou Lounge, enjoy drink specials and an afternoon snack between 2:00pm and 5:00pm each weekend. The full menu will be offered until 4:30pm, the bar will be open until 5:00pm and a complimentary shuttle will be running back to the parking lots as well as into Jasper at 5:15pm.

Wildlife Camera Safari

Peek into the world of wildlife research in Jasper National Park. Use some of the equipment our experts use, visit a wildlife camera site and learn how these tools help the park better understand the wildlife populations.
So here's where the thirst for knowledge and learning comes into play. Parks Canada Interpreters will be at Marmot Meadows this winter offering fun interpretive programs for everyone to enjoy.
Join an interpreter around the fire for stories while trying your hand at new skills, like making a fire with flint and steel or cooking bannock on a stick. On some weekends we will even have hot chocolate and S'mores!
Every weekend we will offer a Wildlife Camera Safari where you will do a bit of hiking or snowshoeing > depending on the conditions. Along the way you can practice wildlife tracking and learn how trail cameras are helping us better understand the park's wildlife.
A traditional tipi will also be set up where Aboriginal programs and cultural teachings will occur in and around the tipi.

Evenings at the Eagle

Enjoy dinner and a night ski at Marmot Basin's mid-mountain after the hill closes for the day.
The night begins when the lifts stop running at 4:00 PM. Meet at Eagle Chalet for a cash bar and light snacks. Dinner is served at 5:00 PM and runs until 7:00 PM. The evening wraps up with a escorted ski down the hill to either the parking lot or Caribou Chalet to board the bus that will return participants to their hotels in Jasper.
Dinner Includes:
Chef's inspired soup
3 main options: beef, vegetarian, chicken/salmon
Dessert with tea & coffee
*All participants must have a valid lift ticket on the day of the event in order to attend.

Dark Sky Snowshoe - Night Vision Edition
